Hello...

I'm so glad to have stopped and seen this video.
As an artist, we are always growing and this have been the most beautiful 10 minutes learning experience in my life.
It brought tears to my eye. Most of the time the greatest don't get to see or hear their contribution to this world.
Thank for sharing,
Ofelia Uz

True listening is an art. Fitting for a picture framer, yes? For anyone, really. Unfortunately, it seems to be a fairly lost art. Thank you for the reminder.

Blessings!

I read this interesting comment in the new David Sedaris book He said that he is always impressed with people who can contribute to a conversation without dominating it with their own stories or comments. I've found myself thinking about that lately more and more. In my personal and professional life I never found it hard to let others speak but I do sometimes feel like I take over when I think I have something that I feel is particularly relevant to add.
I organize conferences for a living and on a recent work trip I was at dinner with a group of our speakers who always felt that they had the best story to tell tied to what ever subject was being discussed. So I sat back and listened and didn't really say very much. Some of these folks are especially high maintenance and I am finding that recently they really felt more comfortable around me and just are more pleasureable to work with. I don't know if that dinner had much to do with it or if it just happened naturally over time, but I do feel that by me giving them a few opportunities to talk about whatever they wanted without interruption has really changed our relationship for the better.

It is interesting that you found that the more "important" pieces were DIY jobs. My wife actually just went to our local frame shop today to get two small pieces framed. They are to go above our crib for our first child due later this year. One is this amazing walrus ink print that was hand drawn by my sister in law years ago and the other is a relatively cheap print we bought this summer at Shaker village upstate. Both are important to us and I would shutter at the thought of me doing that myself and not trusting a professional.
In fact we held on to the walrus print for so many years not only waiting for the right place to put it but also making sure it was framed correctly.
